Aisha Jamila Hinds was born in the United States and is well-known for her part on The Shield. Her lucrative roles with PepsiCo Inc. & Vogue magazine along with her spokesmodel agreement to L'Oreal Paris were all rewarded in 2003. In addition to her highly acclaimed roles in Iruvar (1997), and Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997), her acting career got off to an impressive start. Both of these films challenged the fundamental model that defined Bollywood movies at the time, and pushed Bachchan to the forefront of Bollywood's New Bollywood. The heart-breaking performance of Bachchan as Paro, the lover who is livid in Devdas (2002) the film that was one of the best-known Bollywood films of the time, and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival cemented her as Queen of Bollywood. Following that she received great acclaim for her portrayal in Chokher Bali (2003) which is a dramatic thriller based on Rabindranath Tagore's novel. She was the first Indian to be on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival. Bachchan appeared Gurinder Chadha's Bride and Prejudice which is an musical as well as a dance adaptation to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Bachchan could bring her stunning beauty and glam in her debut English film. Bachchan came back to Bollywood to star in the success Dhoom: 2 (2006) prior to releasing Provoked: A True Story (2006) in English.
